Green Building at The Crossings

Green building principles guided the design and construction of The Crossings, with the goal of making a minimal impact on the natural environment and the greatest impact on human health and well-being. The project team - the owners, the architects, the engineers, and the builders - employed these principles for all design decisions, from the smallest building details to the 210-acre site.

Award-Winning Architecture

Recipient of Austin Business Journal's prestigious award for architectural design

The architecture of The Crossings strives to integrate the highest level of human experience with the best native attributes of the Central Texas landscape and environment. Following green building principles, the architectural design employs a variety of indigenous materials, building shapes, elements, colors, plants, and features to create a varied, but cohesive, experience.

The Crossings offers their guests moments of welcome, focus, discovery, meditation, surprise and delight. The architecture seeks to provide a refreshing variety of experiences by enhancing views, sounds, and smells to stimulate the senses. Restful settings instill calm and quiet while the unexpected design elements interwoven into the architecture inspire innovative thinking and new ideas.

The Crossings' architects were Austin's own Hatch Partnership and its general contractors were Browning Construction and Bill Dorman Construction.

Shortly after its grand opening in September 2003, The Crossings received the 2003 Excellence in Construction Award by the Central Texas Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. In 2004, The Crossings was awarded the 2004 Commercial Real Estate Architectural Design Award from the Austin Business Journal and was also selected as a finalist in the "mixed-use facility" award category.
