Embracing Nature and Nurture, The Crossings is a destination spa bridging inspired treatments, transforming programs and green-minded facilities with the energizing essence of 200 acres resting atop the expansive Balcones Canyonlands Preserve in the Texas Hill Country near Austin.
The Crossings is stylish and comfortable, where guests experience Nature without austere minimalism, Nurture without opulent excess. The 70 tastefully appointed guest rooms are housed in eight separate lodges, each facing the rising sun and forested vistas.
With its infinity-edge swimming pool and sunning deck overlooking Lake Travis in the distance, the Wellness Spa offers more than 50 massages, healing rituals, beauty treatments and personalized holistic services, including the region's only Watsu® Aquatic Massage pool.
A variety of meeting spaces, anchored by the Live Oak Conference Center (accommodating up to 300 people), is flanked by indoor/outdoor seating at the Cypress Creek Dining Hall.
Two miles of nature trails offer numerous meditative respites including a Sweat Lodge, Labyrinth and the Solidago Sanctuary.
Recognized for its sustainability and ecological sensibilities, The Crossings received architectural awards from the Austin Business Journal and Associated Builders and Contractors while receiving the 2007 Austin Chronicle Readers Award for Best Spa and a 2007 Silver Sage Award from Spa Magazine for Wellness Retreat. The Crossings has applied for the rarified LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification under the U.S. Green Building Council.
The Crossings was founded by Ken and Joyce Beck in 2003. Ken, who retired from Dell Computers in 2000, is well acquainted with the stressors and challenges faced by today's employees and organizations. Joyce, a psychotherapist for more than 30 years, has extensive experience counseling people seeking not only stress relief but also meaning and purpose in their lives.
Aware that the challenges they experienced in their seemingly disparate careers converged, Ken and Joyce blended their expertise to create a community that would inspire people to find peace and balance in their professional, personal, and spiritual lives. Over the years, The Crossings has expanded its workshops for individuals to include broader professional programs to help businesses and organizations develop both a sustainable organizational structure and a healthy, positive environment for employees.
In keeping with our mission of encouraging balance and well-being for people, The Crossings employs eco-friendly practices and green building principles to sustain the environment's health as well. In 2008 The Crossings became a Partner Member of the Green Hotels Association as part of our continuing efforts to preserve the earth's natural beauty and resources.
We are proud to have been recognized repeatedly for our thoughtfully designed buildings and landscaping. The Crossings was awarded the 2003 Excellence in Construction Award by the Central Texas Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc., the 2004 Commercial Real Estate Architectural Design Award from the Austin Business Journal, and the 2005 Award of Excellence by the Austin Commercial Real Estate Society.
